Question 13 of 20
How long does it take to build a website?
Most small wellness websites take 4–8 weeks from signed proposal to launch. Here is a realistic week-by-week breakdown, and the four things that usually slow projects down.
A typical 7-week timeline
Week 1
Discovery and planning
We clarify your audience, goals, sitemap and the content we need. You fill out a brief and share any existing branding.
Weeks 2–3
Design concepts
Home page and one or two key pages are designed first. You review, give feedback, and we lock the visual direction.
Weeks 4–5
Full design and development
All remaining pages are designed, then built. Forms, booking links and mobile layouts are tested.
Week 6
Content and refinement
Final text and images go in. We check speed, accessibility, broken links and SEO basics.
Week 7
Launch
Domain and hosting are connected, the site goes live, and we hand over login details and a short training session.
The four things that cause delays
- Content arriving late — especially text, photos and practitioner bios.
- Scope changes after design sign-off, like adding new pages or features.
- Slow feedback, with multiple rounds of changes from several decision-makers.
- Waiting on third parties — booking platforms, domain transfers, email providers.
How to keep it moving
Gather your content before design starts. Nominate one person to give feedback. Decide early which features are essential and which can wait. A clear brief and a single decision-maker will shave weeks off the project.
